Our November 15th 2017 Info Session brought together a number of students interested in consulting with former and current APDCC members. The session included a presentation from our current APDCC President Lindy Jiang. Jiang offered an overview of the field, avenues for different types of consulting work, and insight into APDCC’s objective and role at UC San Diego. The meeting also brought together three panelists in conversation about getting started in consulting. The panelist discussed useful preparation advice, the interview process, and what it’s like working for a consulting firm.
Our panelist included:
• Suvasini Ramaswamy, who did her Ph.D. work at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. She also worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences at UC San Diego. She is a former External Vice President of APDCC. Ramaswamy recently received offers from five prestigious firms.
• Jane Klann, did her undergraduate degree at Occidental College and Ph.D. work in Biomedical Sciences at UC San Diego. She is a former Internal VP of the APDCC. Klann was currently hired at LEK.
• Ruichen Sun is a Ph.D. Student in Biological Sciences at UC San Diego, and studied at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Sun is currently an intern at 1798 Consultants.
